EcoFlow Delta 3 vs Delta 3 Plus
These two share a spec sheet almost line for line: the same 1,024Wh LFP pack, the same 1,800W rated AC output, the same 3,600W surge, the same 1,500W wall charging, the same 27.6 lb, the same five-year warranty. EcoFlow’s direct price for the standalone DELTA 3 is $599. The standalone DELTA 3 Plus is $669. Per watt-hour that is $599 ÷ 1,024 = $0.58 against $669 ÷ 1,024 = $0.65. The $70 gap buys exactly one thing, and it is worth knowing what before you pay it.
The real difference is the second solar port
The DELTA 3 has one DC input, rated 11V–60V at 500W maximum. The DELTA 3 Plus has two of those ports, 500W each, for 1,000W total — EcoFlow headlines it on the product page as “Solar Input with 1000W MPPT, Full Charge in 70 Minutes”. That is the differentiator. Divide the gap by the extra input and you are paying $70 ÷ 500W = $0.14 per additional watt of solar capability.
Whether that is a good trade depends entirely on how much panel you own. Filling 1,024Wh at a clean 500W is 1,024 ÷ 500 = 2.05 hours of arithmetic; at 1,000W it is 1.02 hours. Panels rarely hold rated output and the last 20% of any lithium pack tapers, so treat both as floors. The point stands either way: if your kit tops out at 400W of panel, the second port does nothing for you. If you already own 800W or more, the Plus is the only one of the pair that can take it.
Cycle life is identical — the Plus does not buy you more cycles
Both maker spec tables carry the same row: “Cycle Life 4000 cycles to 80+% capacity”. Not 3,000 against 4,000, not a better cell in the pricier unit — the same published rating, twice. A 3,000-cycle figure does appear on the DELTA 3’s page, but it sits inside the DELTA 3 Extra Battery cross-sell copy, not the station’s own spec row. At 4,000 cycles, one full charge and discharge every day works out at roughly eleven years before the pack reaches 80% of its original capacity. That is the same durability argument on both units, so it cannot decide the purchase.

Both pages list a separate row reading “Max Device(s) Power (with X-Boost) 2200W”. That is a device ceiling, not the inverter rating, and it is the same on both. Anywhere you see 2,200W quoted as the AC output for either of these, the X-Boost number has been promoted into the wrong field.
What EcoFlow does not publish, for either unit
Two things people ask about are missing from both spec tables. There is no noise figure for either unit, so this article does not quote one for either. And neither page states a 0–100% AC charge time; both publish only the 1,500W charging wattage. The arithmetic gives 1,024Wh ÷ 1,500W = 0.68 hours, about 41 minutes, but no lithium pack holds full input to 100%, so that is a lower bound and not a maker claim. If a comparison hands you a hard noise or charge-time number for the Plus while calling the same field unavailable on the DELTA 3, the number came from somewhere other than EcoFlow.
Runtime is the same on both
Same pack, same inverter, same results. Working from usable AC energy of 1,024 × 0.85 = 870Wh, and usable DC of 1,024 × 0.92 = 942Wh:
- Fridge at 50W: 870 ÷ 50 = 17.4 hours
- TV at 90W: 870 ÷ 90 = 9.7 hours
- Laptop at 60W: 870 ÷ 60 = 14.5 hours
- CPAP at 40W on DC: 942 ÷ 40 = 23.6 hours, or 21.8 hours through the AC outlets
- Router at 10W: 870 ÷ 10 = 87 hours
- Microwave at 1,000W: 870 ÷ 1,000 = 0.87 hours, about 52 minutes
- Kettle at 1,500W: 870 ÷ 1,500 = 0.58 hours, about 35 minutes
A 1,500W kettle sits inside the 1,800W rated output on both, with headroom to spare. Nothing in this list changes when you spend the extra $70.
Expansion
Both are expandable, and both say so in their own spec rows. The DELTA 3 lists “Extra Battery Support DELTA 2 EB, DELTA 2 Max EB, DELTA Pro 3 EB, and DELTA 3 EB (Up to 5kWh)”. The Plus lists the same four battery families, described as connecting “via an Alternator Charger XT150 Output Cable”. The wording differs because EcoFlow wrote the rows differently, not because one expands and the other does not. Either way the expansion hardware costs far more than the gap between the two stations.
The Classic, if the $70 matters
The DELTA 3 Classic is $499 for the same 1,024Wh and the same 1,800W rated output. It charges slower from the wall at 1,400W, takes 500W of solar, and its spec table has no extra battery row at all. EcoFlow publishes no cycle rating for the Classic — only an estimated ten-year lifespan from internal testing — so the 4,000-cycle figure above does not transfer to it. Its X-Boost ceiling is 2,600W, higher than either sibling — a genuine maker-published difference, not a typo.
Which one to buy
Buy the DELTA 3 Plus if you own, or are about to buy, more than 500W of panel. Buy the DELTA 3 if you charge from the wall or the car and your solar kit is modest, and put the $70 toward a panel instead.
