How We Research

What our figures are based on, what they are not, and how the money works.

Where our numbers come from

Capacity, output and charge-time figures on this site are manufacturer specifications unless a page explicitly says otherwise. We gather them so you can read them side by side rather than opening four browser tabs.

We do not currently publish our own bench measurements, and we will not present manufacturer figures as though we measured them ourselves. Where a spec is known to be optimistic — usable capacity after inverter losses, for instance — we say so on the page.

How we choose what to feature

Products are selected on relevance to the question a page is answering, not on commission rate. Bright Saver pays us nothing and appears prominently because it is the cheapest way into plug-in solar. If the right answer for a reader is the option that earns us least, that is the one that goes at the top.

How we make money

Affiliate commissions on purchases made through links on this site, at no extra cost to you. Commissions vary by brand. That creates an obvious incentive problem, and the only honest way to handle it is to say so plainly and to keep recommendations tied to stated reasoning you can check.

Not advice. Nothing here is electrical, legal or financial advice. Rules for grid-connected equipment vary by state and utility. Confirm with your utility and a licensed electrician before installing anything that connects to your home wiring.
