The short answer
This is the size most people actually want. Around 3,000W of output starts almost any household appliance short of central air conditioning, and around 3,000Wh runs the essentials of a home for a day. It is also the bracket where the market is most competitive, which means the same money buys noticeably more than it did two years ago.
Watts or watt-hours?
These are different measurements and the market uses the same number for both. 3,000W is a rate — how much the inverter can deliver at once, which decides what you can plug in. 3,000Wh is a quantity — how much energy is stored, which decides how long it lasts. A unit can have one without the other, and most do.
| Reading | What it tells you | Who needs it |
|---|---|---|
| 3,000W output | The largest appliance it will start | Anyone running power tools, pumps or kitchen appliances |
| 3,000Wh capacity | How long it runs before it is flat | Anyone covering an outage or camping trip |
Rated around 3,000W of output
| Model | Capacity | Output | Chemistry | Price | Per Wh |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
ALLPOWERS S2000 Pro | 1,451Wh | 2,400W | NMC | $549 | $0.38 |
Pecron E2400LFP 2400W 2048Wh | 2,048Wh | 2,400W | LiFePO4 | $649 | $0.32 |
OUPES Mega 2 Home Backup | 2,048Wh | 2,500W | LiFePO4 | $699 | $0.34 |
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Series (2048Wh) | 2,048Wh | 3,000W | LiFePO4 | $799 | $0.39 |
Renogy 2000 | 2,048Wh | 2,400W | LiFePO4 | $799 | $0.39 |
BLUETTI AC200L | 2,048Wh | 2,400W | LiFePO4 | $899 | $0.44 |
Cheapest first, one model per brand. These deliver roughly 3,000W continuously, so the question they answer is what you can plug in, not how long it lasts.
Holding around 3,000Wh of energy
| Model | Capacity | Output | Chemistry | Price | Per Wh |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Pecron E3600LFP 3600W 3072Wh | 3,072Wh | 3,600W | LiFePO4 | $999 | $0.33 |
Anker SOLIX F2600 | 2,560Wh | 2,400W | LiFePO4 | $999.99 | $0.39 |
BLUETTI Elite 300 | 3,014Wh | 2,400W | LiFePO4 | $1,099 | $0.36 |
OUPES Mega 3 Home Backup | 3,072Wh | 3,600W | LiFePO4 | $1,149 | $0.37 |
Mango Power E Home Backup | 3,533Wh | 3,000W | LiFePO4 | $1,299 | $0.37 |
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra Series (3072Wh) | 3,072Wh | 3,600W | LiFePO4 | $1,399 | $0.46 |
Cheapest first, one model per brand. These store roughly 3,000Wh, so the question they answer is how long you last, not what you can start.
What 3,000Wh actually runs
| Appliance | Draw | Runtime from 3,000Wh |
|---|---|---|
| Router and modem | 10W | 255 hr |
| CPAP machine | 40W | 64 hr |
| Fridge (average) | 50W | 51 hr |
| 55-inch television | 90W | 28 hr |
| Microwave | 1,000W | 2 hr 33 min |
| Space heater | 1,500W | 1 hr 42 min |
Capacity multiplied by 0.85 to allow for what the inverter loses turning DC into AC, then divided by the load. The heating loads at the bottom are the point: they are not a battery job, whatever the bracket.
Questions
What will a 3000 watt solar generator run?
Nearly everything in a house, one or two things at a time. A fridge, lighting, internet and charging together draw under 200W, so the output is rarely the limit. A microwave or a kettle at 1,000W to 1,500W runs fine in bursts. Continuous heating is where it stops.
Is 3000W enough for a refrigerator?
Comfortably, several times over. A domestic fridge averages about 50W and spikes to perhaps 800W for a second when the compressor starts. The relevant number is capacity, not output: 3,000Wh runs a fridge for roughly two days.
Can it power a well pump or a sump pump?
Usually yes, but check the starting surge rather than the running watts. A half-horsepower pump runs at around 800W and can pull three times that on start, so the surge rating is what decides it.
How we work these out
Runtimes are capacity multiplied by 0.85 and divided by the load, the same arithmetic used on every review, comparison and guide on this site, so the numbers agree wherever you meet them. Capacities, outputs, chemistries and prices are the manufacturers’ own, held in the catalogue of 458 products we track. Expansion batteries are excluded throughout even where their specifications would qualify them, because they do nothing without a host unit.
