Renogy Solar Panels: The Whole Range Compared

Renogy sells more panel variants than any other brand we track, and the differences between them are not obvious from the listings.

The short answer

Renogy is one of the few brands that sells panels as components rather than as part of a sealed system, which is why it dominates DIY and RV builds. The range splits three ways: rigid glass panels for permanent mounts, flexible and portable panels for surfaces that curve or move, and folding suitcases that pack away. The wrong category is a more expensive mistake than the wrong wattage.

The range

Cheapest first, accessories excluded — Renogy lists cables, lugs and mounting trays in the same catalogue, and a table that mixed them in would not be a shortlist. We track 67 Renogy products in total; the brand page has all of them including the hardware.

Questions

Are Renogy solar panels any good?

They are the default choice in DIY and RV solar for a reason: the panels are conventional, well documented and cheap to replace, and the mounting hardware is standard rather than proprietary. You are not buying the highest efficiency per square metre; you are buying something you can wire yourself and fix in five years.

What is the difference between Renogy N-type and standard panels?

N-type cells hold their output better at high temperatures and degrade more slowly over the panel's life. On a roof that bakes, that difference compounds. On a suitcase you deploy a dozen times a year, it mostly does not.

Do I need a charge controller with a Renogy panel?

Yes, for anything charging a battery. A panel wired straight to a battery has no way to stop, and that is how batteries die. The controller is not an accessory here, it is part of the circuit.

How we work these out

Prices and specifications are Renogy’s own published figures, held in the catalogue of 67 Renogy products we track alongside every other brand. Where Renogy publishes no figure for something, it is left blank rather than estimated. Retailer links are affiliate links; they never change the ordering, which is by price. How we research.
