What size Renogy inverter do I need?
Add up everything you will run at once, then add the largest single starting surge on top. A fridge averaging 50W can spike to 800W for a second when the compressor kicks in, and it is that spike the inverter has to survive.
Do I need pure sine wave?
For anything with a motor, a compressor or sensitive electronics, yes. Modified sine wave is cheaper and will run a heater or a filament bulb, but it makes motors run hot and can produce audible buzz in audio equipment.
What is the difference between an inverter and an inverter charger?
An inverter charger also works in reverse, charging the battery from shore power or a generator when one is available. In an RV or a boat that matters constantly; in a fixed off-grid setup with solar, often not at all.
